On this episode of Unpack, we take a look at the cultural hub of Aotearoa, South Auckland. We discuss, the narratives around the newly built privately owned prison in Wiri, Manuwera, the decision to highlight a high school brawl, and the dissonance between Jawsh 685's allegiance to Samoa, and the claims of being an Auckland, and not a South Auckland artist. Over the last decade in particular, misrepresentation in the media has been a big issue for South Auckland.
It's important we state that neither of us are from South Auckland. So to end the episode, you'll hear an excerpt from an article title 'Intro to the 267' from Luisa-Tafu Leiataua Tauri-Tei.
